Legislative AffairsFAEMSP is a strong voice before the state legislature, the governor's office, the Department of Education, and other federal and state agencies. FAEMSP members are represented on numerous committees and task forces at state and national levels. Through FAEMSP's legislative network, members can influence decisions impacting education at all levels.
Legal AssistanceActive members of FAEMSP/FASA/NAESP are eligible to request free legal assistance in job-related legal matters, in an amount from $500 to $6,000 depending on their years of continuous membership. An additional plan provides fees up to $14,500 for professional liability protection in civil suits and damage claims up to $400,000. NAESP's Contract Review Service offers practical cost-free counsel for strengthening employment contracts.
Professional DevelopmentFAEMSP is committed to strengthening the principalship by developing programs to meet the current and future needs of Florida principals and children.
To assist members in meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing educational environment, FAEMSP sponsors or co-sponsors conferences, workshops, and seminars throughout the year.
NAESP Annual Conferences, Academies, and Seminars Each year NAESP and the Southeastern Region sponsors an outstanding conference for all elementary and middle school principals as well as many other professional development opportunities.
Annual FASA Summer ConferenceThis conference provides a forum on the major issues facing educators today. The conference offers professional development through concurrent sessions and general sessions with outstanding speakers and practicing educators. Exhibits provide opportunities for hands on contact with merchandise and materials.
Aspiring PrincipalsThis workshop, developed by NAESP, and delivered by practicing principals, is being offered to attract talented educators to the principalship.
Professional PublicationsAs a joint member of NAESP, members receive the NAESP publications, Principal, Communicator, Research Roundup, Streamlined Seminar, Here's How, Middle Matters, Report to Parents, Focus on Finance, annual Pocket Calendar, and National survey of principals' salaries and benefits, annually. Members also receive the following FASA publications:
The Communicator, a magazine which highlights topics of special interest to principals, a message from the Executive Director, recognitions of awards, programs, and happenings on the state scene.
