LEGISLATIVE LIAISON

FASSP is a strong voice before the state legislature, Governor's office, Department of Education, and other Federal and State agencies. FASSP members are represented on numerous committees and task forces at local, state and national level. With FASSP's legislative networking, members can influence decisions that address school quality and the professional leadership needs of school administrators.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

FASSP works diligently to assist principals and other school leaders in improving the conditions under which schools are organized for effective learning.

To help members meet the challenges of a rapidly changing educational environment, FASSP sponsors and co-sponsors conferences, seminars, and workshops throughout the year.

FASA's Annual Conference & Exposition

This conference provides new and innovative approaches to enhance the administrator's role to advance Florida's public education. Professional development is offered through concurrent and general sessions with outstanding speakers and practicing educators. Exhibits provide opportunities for hands on contact with educational merchandise and materials.

RECOGNITION

State and National Principal of the Year Award
Each year an outstanding middle or high school principal is designated as the State of Florida's Principal of the Year. The designee will then represent Florida in the National Principal of the Year competition sponsored by Met Life, and NASSP in association with United States Department of Education.

Assistant Principal of the Year Award

Each year McDonald's Corporation and NASSP recognizes an outstanding assistant, vice, or associate principal or dean of a public or private middle or high school. The honoree is recognized at the Annual FASA Conference and at the National Leadership Forum.

LEGAL ASSISTANCE

Active members of FASSP/FASA are eligible to request free, limited legal consultation with FASSP/FASA's General Counsel. This program provides assistance up to $6,000 for job-related legal defense.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to those persons who support the purpose of FASSP and FASA:

  • Middle and High School Principals
  • Other persons engaged in administration and supervision of a school with Middle or High School grades
  • Retired Middle and High School Administrators
  • Categories of membership include Individual, Institutional, and Retired.
  • Membership entitles you to twelve months of membership benefits regardless of when you join.
