MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Fran Giblin, President
I would like to welcome you to the new FASSP web site and send out a special thanks to the staff at FASA, especially Joanna Wolff, for their efforts to bring our communications up to date. I feel this new web site will be a valuable tool for all state Principals and Assistant Principals. The communication it will foster will lead us to an increase in membership and afford us the avenue to serve our staff and students with up to date information.
Looking into the future I hope to see new opportunities for members and others to join FASSP and become aware of the benefits FASSP and FASA have to offer. In addition, it is important that you know your officers and staff need you to be active. We need you to support recruitment of new members and we have thousands of candidates for membership in the state that must become active with our organization.
It has become increasing evident in Tallahassee that if you are not present and vocal you will not be heard. This mandates a more active presence by our association both in the capital and at home in the communities. I need you to support your organization in terms of both membership and groundwork with your local legislators and business communities.
We, as a group, need to be heard across the state and not just for two or three days in the capital. You must be that voice. It is time to speak up or we will continue to get what we get, a dictate or unfunded mandate we had no voice in. You make the choice of how you want to be represented. If you decide, you want to be represented by seasoned educational professionals then support and join FASSP/FASA. If you decide everything is just fine the way it is, please disregard this letter.
If you agree that enough is enough then let us work together to make positive changes for our students and staff in the state of Florida.
The decision is ours.
