Is a school ticket booth with the name of a local restaurant or national chain in the school district's future?

Tebo Partnerships, which works with school districts across the state, pitched Tuesday the idea of selling naming rights of district facilities. It's a concept school districts have used since the company began in 2014, said managing partner Brian Siatkowski.

It's a way districts can earn additional revenue for their programs, he said. Businesses see the benefit in advertising at schools, he said. Research shows that about 75% of parents want companies to support schools, and about 64% will switch to the companies that do, Siatkowski said.

School Board members expressed interest in the idea. No vote was taken.

"This is a really great opportunity to move in to a more professional level than the grass-roots efforts that we have," said board member Christia Li Roberts.

Facilities audit and valuation first step

Tebo would first do an audit of the district facilities, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and then prepare a valuation of available facilities with pricing, photos and information to send to advertisers. Facilities could be as large as a stadium or as small as a gymnasium, ticket booth or a theater, Siatkowski said.
