Dr. Eric Hall, Ed.D.
Secretary of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice
Dr. Eric Hall, Ed.D. has more than two decades of experience in executive leadership roles, with significant expertise in the fields of education, youth development, and juvenile justice. In November 2021, Dr. Eric Hall was appointed secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice by Governor Ron DeSantis. Before this role, he was appointed in March 2019 by then Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran to serve as the state’s first Chancellor for Innovation and Senior Chancellor where he oversaw the divisions of K-12 Public Schools, the Florida College System, Career and Adult Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, Blind Services, the Office of Safe Schools and the Office of Early Learning.
Prior to his work at the Florida Department of Education, he led renowned education initiatives in a number of positions in North Carolina, including as Deputy State Superintendent, where he oversaw multiple divisions and initiatives within the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Secretary Hall was also the state’s founding Superintendent of North Carolina’s Innovative School District and, before that, the President and CEO of Communities In Schools of North Carolina.
Dr. Hall serves on several boards and councils including the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet, CareerSource Florida Board of Directors, and Special Olympics Florida, and previously served as chair of the Florida State Advisory Council on Early Learning.
Dr. Hall holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Science Education, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of South Florida.
